About
Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, Ben Rhodehamel has been playing music since the moment he could get his hands on instruments. He began taking drum lessons at the age of 6, and by the age of 12 had begun performing publically. By the time he had reached high school, drumming had become a centrally important part of Ben’s life, and he was active in multiple school band programs. After high school, Ben studied for two years at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. It was at DePauw and through his involvement in the University’s jazz ensemble and jazz combo–coupled with the foundation from his high school jazz band–that Ben gained a love and appreciation for jazz music and improvisation. Deciding to fully pursue a career in music, Ben moved to Boston, MA, in 2019 to attend the Berklee College of Music, from which he graduated in 2023 with a degree in Drum-Set Performance.
Throughout his career, Ben has performed in a wide variety of styles including jazz, jazz-fusion, R&B, hip-hop, funk, classic rock, jam rock, and heavy metal, and he prides himself on being able to adapt to nearly any musical situation. Ben has performed around Boston with Space Babies, Aristotle Jones and The 805, and HUMANRADiO. He does freelance studio work, and also gives private drum lessons.
